Hand 4 Hand Issue with Satellites

There’s an issue with the current Hand 4 Hand settings in satellites. Typically, there’s 1 extra spot in a satellite that gets the leftover $, not a full ticket. However, the current settings for H4H only apply on the bubble before the $, not the bubble between the money and the ticket. For example, if 10 people are being paid a $500 ticket, and 11th gets $70, H4H kicks in with 12 people remaining, but then turns back off when there are 11 left. Often the payjump between the $ and the ticket is much larger than the payjump between the actual bubble and the place that gets the $. This effectively renders that H4H useless, and allows one table to stall while the other table gets additional hands.

Hi @jsmith84poker we can take a look into this for you. Would you be able to provide some screenshots to give us a clearer understanding of your issue?

Here’s an example. This tournament went hand 4 hand with 26 left because 25 were payed. But then hand 4 hand shuts off at 25 before the 24 seats are awarded. Sometimes this is a more extreme jump if, for instance, if there is only $5 extra that goes to 25th. Hand 4 hand in satellites should go both before the initial payout and between that and the ticket.

We’ll look into this and provide your feedback regarding when the hand for hand should shut off.

Another similar issue I experience in a satellite tonight:
8 seats being awarded - 9th gets cash.
When we got down to 10 players playing 5 handed each table, there was no FT hand for hand.
It seems to me there should be FT hand for hand even tho it’s two spots away from a seat.

Any update here? Played a satellite Tuesday to the $1050 buyin where the min cash was $100 and then all other players cashing received a $1,050 ticket and it went hand for hand before the $100 min cash and then wasn’t hand for hand for the $950 jump to the ticket.

As players hit the money the hand for hand would stop but we can understand given the difference of the cash values versus the ticket value. We’ll let our team know to have a look and consider for future tournaments with a similar structure too.

Yeah understandable that it’s set to just the initial money bubble, which makes perfect sense in regular tournaments. For satellites, however, the standard in live tournaments is to do a “double bubble” and stay hand for hand until the 2nd pay jump occurs which ends the tournament. This is also how most competing poker sites do it as well. Thanks for passing this along!
