Poker Updates January 19th 2020

Effective January 19th, we’re changing the starting chip stack for all ‘Jackpot Sit and Go’ games
As of Wednesday, January 19 , the starting chips stacks in ALL of our Jackpot Sit and Go games will permanently go from 500 chips down to 300 chips.

Why we made the change? - The reason for the change is to improve the player experience by providing a faster, more action-packed game. We tested a temporary change during the “12 Days of Turbo” promotion period; the change proved to be very popular with most players, so the decision was made to bring back the 300 starting stacks.

In addition to this, the following Tournament changes will also take place:

Bad move with the 500 to 300 chips change but oh well. More profitable for ya’ll but definitely not more popular with the players. I shouldn’t be playing these anyways, this give me more reason not to.

This was actually actioned due to the feedback of players after we did the trial in December

If I remember correctly, there was a lot of complaints about it. But it’s ok, no problem at all.

I really don’t think I’m a fan of any of these changes.

How about getting the 99% cash game loading problem to stop.

Yeah, I’m done with the jackpots. They were fast enough as it was with the stupid come from behind with any2 random cards questionable opponents.

One day I played 7 or 10, and every one of them I got bust out by exactly 2 gappers running out straights… that’s enough of a headache to deal with without worrying about people getting lucky with their nonsense bs in only 2 hands to completely overthrow a 680/220 chiplead. If anyone actually sits and plays these, they’ll start questioning if they’re even playing real people. I can’t imagine people paying $7, $20, $60, $100 to play 3 9o to magically find their trips or 2 pair, or 4 to a straight runouts.

I’ve noticed other post about Jackpot Sngs that players have stated amounts they have played that do not align with the prize pool structure that i see… I’d just like to validate that there are only 3 possible prize pools for each game which is factored on the buy-in. Can someone confirm the below is accurate?

Prize Pool 1 = 2x entry fee ($2 buy in = $4 prize pool)

Prize Pool 2 = 5x entry fee ($2 buy in = $10 prize pool)

Prize Pool 3 = Jackpot

It’s always one of the following - 2x buyin, 5x buyin, or jackpot… right?

The feedback from which I saw on the forums was actually 90% against the new format. As we all know there is a huge amount of luck involved in both formats, but when you go from 25BB starting stacks down to 15BB starting stacks that’s jamming territory right from the get-go and increases the variance tremendously. Not a fan of the switch at all.

The forum will make up a very small proportion of player base. I’m sure the poker team must have had ample feedback to make permanent changes after they did the trial.

Yeah, generating rake faster.

Where else would they have gotten the player feedback? Hard to believe anyone was sending in emails to support saying how much they love the switch.

It’s obviously a move to cater to the weaker players and generate more income for the site. No decent poker player with half a brain would think this format is better.
